Job Title: Provider Credentialing Coordinator

Location: Houston, TX (Onsite with potential hybrid schedule in the future)

Type: Contract (Approximately 4 months)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay: $21 - $25 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Provider Credentialing Coordinator to join a busy, high-volume credentialing team supporting over 9,000 providers. This contract position is onsite in Houston with the potential for alternating weeks onsite and remote down the line.

You will be responsible for managing provider credentialing and enrollment activities, ensuring all files meet quality and compliance standards under NCQA guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process initial and reappointment credentialing applications for physicians, advanced practice providers, and allied health professionals
  • Perform primary source verification of education, licensure, certifications, training, employment history, and malpractice claims
  • Maintain and update provider profiles in credentialing software
  • Prepare files for Medical Staff and Credentialing Committee review following Joint Commission and NCQA standards
  • Track and follow up on expiring credentials, licenses, and certifications
  • Run reports and audit provider accounts regularly
  • Handle provider verifications and typical credentialing tasks, balancing high volume and accuracy

What We’re Looking For

  • NCQA experience is required — familiarity with NCQA credentialing standards is critical
  • Must have experience with provider enrollment (payor enrollment experience does not qualify)
  • Experience with credentialing software such as MSOW, Cactus, or Symplr is a plus but not required
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of providers
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Open to candidates with varying years of experience as long as they can perform the role
