The role focuses on the evaluation of the luxury goods we list in our online auctions. The gemologist will be responsible for providing the gemological information for each listing as well as auction resale price generation.

What You'll Do

• Provide the gemological information for each listing as well as auction resale price generation
• Accurately evaluate and grade diamonds, gemstones and jewelry using gemological tools and industry-standard forms of testing
• Perform all key tests to determine proper assessment of jewelry
• Assess the need for and ensure item receives cleaning as required
• Contribute to the operations flow to move items through the processing cycle to meet auction deadlines

What You Have:

• GIA Certification: Graduate Degree (GG) required
• Ability to grade and evaluate a large volume of diamonds, jewelry and gemstones
• Keen eye to scrutinize auction items in order to detect and reject items that fall below our minimum requirements, such as imitations and synthetics, as well as damaged articles
• 2+ years of related jewelry or jewelry sales experience
• Organization skills required to route incoming items to appropriate third party grading labs as needed
• Sense of urgency to ensure timely and reliable product flow through collaboration with receiving and photography teams
• Diligence to regularly monitor daily auction activity
• Flexibility in regard to work schedule
• Ability to multitask in a fast paced startup environment
