Job Description

  Position Title: Teacher of Exceptional Student Services (Full-Time, M-F, Grades 6-12)

Term: 2025-2026 School Year; Full-Time

Start Date: July 30th, 2025

Salary: Commensurate with experience

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Director of Student Support Services

Description:

The Special Education Teacher will manage a student caseload while fulfilling teaching responsibilities. These responsibilities may include direct instruction, inclusion support, co-teaching, and collaboration with general education teachers in classroom settings. This role requires leadership in the development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of Special Education programs, as well as supporting online learning. Additionally, the teacher will ensure compliance with Special Education policies and procedures to enhance student achievement.

Job Position Duties:

Essential Functions:

  • Write and maintain special education documentation.
  • Administer and analyze assessments to inform instruction.
  • Develop and implement accommodations and modifications for students.
  • Support post-secondary transition planning for students.
  • Provide academic support across all content areas.
  • Train and mentor paraprofessional staff.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and IDEA reporting requirements.
  • Use data, including progress reports and identified areas of need, to provide targeted instruction and support skill development.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain records, and communicate effectively with parents and teachers.
  • Participate in ongoing training, data analysis meetings, and professional development workshops.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of FALA.

  • Proficiency with basic office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, and telephones.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including spelling and grammar.

  • Ability to create and maintain a structured, supportive learning environment.
  • Willingness to learn and utilize progress monitoring software.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite applications.
  • Experience with IEPPro or willingness to learn.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Certified in the field of Special Education.
  • Hold a Cross-Categorical Special Education Certificate (K-12), or High Incidence Certificate.
  • Hold a current fingerprint clearance card.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in a Special Education-related field.
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or other behavioral approach models.
  • Knowledge of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) strategies.
