Job Description - Consultant

Our damages/cost estimating group provides much-needed support services focusing on construction defect claims in a litigated environment. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in new construction, restoration, insurance, and/or the construction claims industry. More experienced candidates are welcome to apply and will be evaluated at the Senior Consultant level. We also welcome skilled estimators from reconstruction or equivalent fields.

Job Responsibilities

  • Attend site inspections to document existing conditions.
  • Perform electronic quantity takeoffs.
  • Develop cost estimates for repairs primarily related to residential projects, encompassing building envelope, foundation, concrete flatwork, MEP, and civil grading and drainage.
  • Manage documents across multiple files in various formats to identify key documents for team review and analysis.
  • Utilize industry-standard pricing databases, such as Xactimate and RSMeans.
  • Review and analyze construction plans to understand affected work areas for a given scope of work.
  • Review subcontractor agreements and invoices to determine responsible parties for varying areas of construction (i.e. stucco installer, roof installer, foundation installer, etc.)
  • Assist with cost analysis and the preparation of expert reports, including extensive spreadsheet work in Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-monitor progress on assigned tasks or projects, and ensure work product produced is consistently of high quality
  • Review cost estimates and reports for accuracy, grammar and completeness.
  • Manage multiple files to ensure timely delivery of work product to clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or architecture from an accredited college or university.
  • Relevant experience in the construction or restoration industry, specializing in preparing cost estimates and/or managing construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Xactimate, RSMeans, Bluebeam, and electronic takeoff software.
  • Full knowledge of Xactimate is a plus.
  • A comprehensive understanding of construction means and methods for both commercial and residential construction; restoration experience preferred but not required.
  • The ability to review and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • The ability to communicate complex issues succinctly and accurately in written form.
  • Be a forward-thinking problem solver capable of pivoting as needed based on client demands and deadlines.
  • Organize project documents strategically and thoughtfully to increase group efficiency.
  • Have experience in standard Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, etc.

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site.
  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Able to climb ladders to reach high areas or roofs.
  • May be exposed to UV radiation from the sun, radon, or other forms of air pollution.
  • Willingness to travel within the Colorado region and surrounding states.

A reasonable salary range estimate for this role is $75,000 - $125,000. Any offered salary is based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of the role, management responsibility, etc.
